Margaret A. Emory
Margaret A. Emory, age 97, of South Ogden, Utah, passed away at her home on Wednesday, July 22, 2015. Marge was born in Richmond, Virginia in 1918. She grew up on Bainbridge Street on the Southside. She met her husband-to-be while he was checking out in P-47 Thunderbolts in the 351 st Fighter Squadron at Richmond Army Air Field before departing for England. They were married in February of 1943. Following Frank’s return at war’s end, they were assigned to Spokane Air Depot in Washington where her son Steve was born in 1947.
Marge was the classic fighter pilot’s and commander’s wife, holding down the home front especially when Frank was on extended remote tours to Korea and Vietnam and while also supporting other unit families needing special care, as well as members left at home during deployments and emergencies.
Marge loved to travel and got her share for over 30 years as they traveled all over the world in the fighter business, finally retiring in Valparaiso, Florida in 1971. When Frank passed away, in 2001, she moved to South Ogden. Although she enjoyed traveling, the thing she loved the most was getting back to Virginia. She is now on her way home.
She is survived by her son, Steve and daughter-in-law, Peggy, from Eden, Utah; as well as her nephews and their families, including Dr. Tom Carroll and Mike Carroll of Midlothian, Virginia.
Funeral services will be held at on Tuesday, August 11, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Augustine’s Church, 4400 Beulah Rd., North Chesterfield, Virginia. Marge will later be interred with Frank at Arlington National Cemetery in Washington DC. Services entrusted to Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, Ogden, Utah and Bliley’s-Chippenham Funeral Chapel, Richmond, Virginia.
The family thanks the staff at Mt. Ridge Assisted Living and the Northern Utah Rehabilitation Hospital, as well as the Comfort Works Hospice, for all their support and tenderness in easing her transition home.
