Margaret Ellen Binnie Fackrell

April 24, 1925 ~ July 18, 2016

Our mom, grandma, and dear friend, Margaret Ellen Binnie Fackrell passed away on Monday, July 18, 2016, at the age of 91.  She was born in Ogden, Utah on April 24, 1925 to loving parents Robert and Lillie “Lillian” Green Binnie.

Her childhood was tender and full of happy family memories.  As the older of two sisters, Margaret and Jean shared an inseparable bond, and Margaret graciously shared her children with Jean.  Margaret met and married the love of her life, Heber Garrett Fackrell on June 11, 1947 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.  Their love and courtship continued through their married life of 61 years.  She was the “apple of his eye.”  Together they had a beautiful life with three loving children, John, Chris, and Jim.  In their early years, they spent time in San Francisco while Heber attended dental school and Margaret taught school, having graduated from both Weber State and Utah State.

Margaret was a loving mother and dedicated her life to her children and grandchildren.  You could be sure Mom would remember the special dates in our lives and always wrote notes of love and encouragement and always lent a listening ear.  When her youngest son began school, Margaret went back to teach.  She taught second grade at Polk Elementary having previously taught in North Logan and San Francisco.  She taught and loved her students for over 32 years.  She loved to cook, bake, and to put up fruit, jam, and especially her famous pickles.  Margaret also served in many organizations.  She worked as president of the dental auxiliary board, president of Chareya, and as a board member of the Women’s Golf Association at the Ogden Golf and Country Club.  She said she wasn’t very good at golf but you just keep swinging.  She was a favorite among neighbors, ward members, and friends.  Weekly lunch dates and dinner outings with high school friends, Relief Society gals, and dear friends made her happy.

Margaret served in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints all her life, loving the gospel and our Savior.  She often reminded us to “trust the Lord,” “get a blessing,” and “things will all work out.”  She served in many callings including, Ward and Stake Relief Society President, MIA teacher, visiting teacher, and other callings.  Margaret always came with a pack of gum to share and a treat for the children.  Margaret’s life of service and generosity inspire us and leave us with joyful memories.  She will be greatly missed.

Margaret is survived by her sons and daughter and their families, John (Joan) Fackrell, Jacob (Sarah), Jared, Jeremy (Heather), Jennifer (Spencer) Jorgensen, and Jilanne Fackrell; Christine (Ron) Stuart, Matt (Cheryl), Erin (Bob) Wallis, Stephanie (Ty) Sparrow, and Robert Stuart; Jim (Val) Fackrell, Tyler (Brooke), Lyndsie, Jaden (Brittany), Cole (Becca), Mitch, and Carson Fackrell; and17 great-grandchildren, Kate, Rylan, and Adelyn Fackrell, Emma, Benjamin, Spencer, Trevor Stuart, Rachel, Joshua, Sara, Allison Wallis, Bode, Wyatt, Rhett, Colt Sparrow, Lucas Fackrell, and Quinn Fackrell; and sister-in-law, Nada Williams.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Heber G. Fackrell; her parents, and sister, Jean Binnie.

Thank you to the sweet doctors and nurses at McKay Dee and Fairfield Village. And a special thank you to her kind Bishop, Don Belnap, and loving neighbors, Mike and Nadine, and Linda.
