Margaret LaVon Chard Ipsen

12/18/1927-11/10/2016

Margaret age 88 passed away peacefully shortly after midnight on November 10, 2016 at the Davis Hospital.  She was born in Ogden, Utah to Stephen H. Chard and Elsie Slater.  She grew up in the Ogden area.  She had to quit school at age sixteen to go to work at the arsenal to help her family survive financially.

She married Doc Jarvis which took her to California to live.  It was in California where her daughter Cheryl was born.  Cheryl was the joy of her life.  After “Doc” passed away Margaret returned to Utah where she married the love of her life Bob Ipsen, from that union came two step-daughters Winnie Evans and Patti Ipsen.  Margaret worked for Smith’s Grocery Chain and Hill Air Force Base.  She was a member of the American Legion for several years.

Margaret loved to crochet and give the things she made to people and the less fortunate.  She also liked to decorate for all the holidays. When Margaret could not care for herself any longer, she moved to Rocky Mountain Care Center where she resided the past four years.  She was well liked by all the residents there.  The family would like to thank the staff for the care of her.

Margaret was preceded in death by her parents, daughter Cheryl, Brother LaMar, sister Mae, both husbands, and a few nieces and nephews. Margaret is survived by her brother Glen, grandson Tommy, son-in-law Ralph, Step-daughters Winnie and Patti, several nieces and nephews, two very special nieces Pam Robinson who spent several hours with her and playing bingo with her every Thursday, taking  her all her goodies and shakes.  Pam really loved her, also Eleanor Green who would help her purchase things that were special to her.
