Margaret Misso

Our wonderful mother passed away February 17, 2017.  We will miss her terribly.  Mom was born May 20, 1925 near Birmingham, England.  She grew up on a rural farm in Worcester before earning her degree in Physics from the University of Bristol.  She was one of only two women in the physics department at that time.

Mom moved to the U.S. in 1959 to marry Frank, working at the Franklin Institute in Philadelphia upon her arrival.  She paused her career to raise three children while volunteering with the PTA, at the school libraries, and other youth-related endeavors.  In 1971 she resumed her career selling real estate and then joined Underwriters’ Laboratories in 1972.  After a 25-year tenure at UL mostly in Santa Clara, CA, Mom retired to Vernal, UT where she became a centerpiece of the community.

A hiker her entire life, Mom has enjoyed the many trails in the San Francisco Bay Area.  She continued her hiking/walking in Vernal, especially enjoying the walking park.

Mom’s first passion was gardening.  She earned her Master Gardener accreditation at 75 years of age, designing the garden at the Vernal Golden Age Center.  One could always marvel at her backyard English rose garden.  Mom also excelled at needlepoint and knitting, knitting shawls for everyone who knew her.

Margaret is survived by her three children, Nigel (Diane), Susan (John), and Paul (Carol), her seven grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.

Services entrusted to Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road.
