Margaret Maughan Palmer

LAYTON a€" Margaret Maughan Palmer born February 20, 1927 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Wesley and Helen Maughan passed away November 3, 2010 of natural causes. She spoke fondly of growing up in pre-war Salt Lake City with older brothers Parker and Calvin Maughan. She graduated from South High School in June of 1945.

She married James William Neill in the summer of 1947 and while this marriage ended in divorce she was blessed with two sons, James Robert Neill and Thomas Glenn Neill. Mom later married Glenn Chambers Palmer on October 17, 1955 and saw the family grow with the addition of Lee Chambers Palmer and Julie Palmer. Mom and dad spent the next 45 years together raising their family in Layton until dad''s death in January of 2001.

Mom worked for a time at Hill Air Force Base but her greatest joy in life was her family. She was happiest when surrounded by loved ones and we felt that loving bond as we gathered around her in her final days on this earth.

Mom is survived by her sons, Bob (Lori) Neill, Tom Neill, Lee (Alica) Palmer, and daughter, Julie (Darrin) Pasco. She also leaves behind 13 grandchildren: Tracy, Carly, David, Bobby, Daniel, Tyler, Michael, Sean, Alex, Kelsey, Ariel, Gianna, and Trinity along with six great-grandchildren: Ben, Addison, Payton, Emme, Ella and Mattie.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, her brothers and infant twin sisters.

Mom spent most of her last few years battling Alzheimer''s and the family is deeply indebted to the staffs of both Chancellor Gardens and Manor Care.

Graveside services will be held Saturday, November 6, 2010 at 2 p.m. at Lindquist''s Memorial Park at Layton, 1867 No. Fairfield Road.

Funeral directors, Lindquist''s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road.
