Margaret Macdonald Jost Parker

OGDEN a€" Margaret MacDonald Jost Parker, wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend passed away August 18, 2012, after an extended illness.

She was born on November 13, 1926 in Ogden, Utah to John Quinn MacDonald and Ethel Hales. A life-long resident of Utah, Margaret married Dale Leland Jost on August 21, 1946 in the Salt Lake City Temple. Together they attended Utah State University where she graduated with her degree in Elementary Education.

Margaret loved teaching and the children she taught. Her success in this field was evident through her investment in each child''s belief in themselves; helping them recognize their individual talents and abilities. By the time she retired, she had spent over 37 years as an Elementary Education teacher in the Davis School District. Immediately upon her retirement, she spent two fulfilling years as an Instructor in the Elementary Education Dept. at Brigham Young University, Hawaii. Margaret enjoyed many years working with Beverly Ward as Co-Director of the Davis County Rec Red Cross swimming program at the Lagoon pool. She also served as a Hostess and led historical tours through the Beehive House for 20 years. She happily chose to sacrifice her ward activities by volunteering for Sunday duty. Margaret served as an Area Coordinator for the Pennies-by-the-inch campaign to raise charity funds for Primary Children''s Medical Center. Mom loved being a part of this effort as it was cause that she believed in.

A member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Margaret served in many leadership and teaching callings throughout her life. She was a compassionate and reliable friend who stood ready to share a laugh or help carry a burden. Naturally prone to service, she would seek and find the good in others. As a devoted grandmother she created treasured memories for her grandchildren.

Margaret was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Dale L. Jost. Dale and Margaret devotedly raised two daughters and worked together to ensure the success of Robin Brand Products. She felt blessed to re-marry a loving companion, Clyde Parker on July 11, 2000. After 12 years of new adventures, he tenderly cared for her until her passing.

Margaret was also preceded in death by her brother; Jim MacDonald. She is survived by her children; Margaret Ann (Joe) Horton of Holladay; Jacquelynn Marie (Doug) Markel of Seattle; her grandsons; Matthew (Tori) Horton of Salt Lake City and Andrew (Jess) Horton of Phoenix, two great-grandchildren and four step-children; Thomas Parker of Eden, Gregory Parker (Jessica) of West Valley City, Cami (Ric) Egbert of Ogden and Lisa Marie Parker of Salt Lake City.

A visitation will be Tuesday, August 21, 2012 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Lindquist''s Kaysville Mortuary, 400 N. Main Street, Kaysville, UT. In honor of our mother''s wishes, a graveside service will be held at the Kaysville City cemetery, 500 E. Crestwood Rd. on August 22nd at 11:00 a.m., where family and friends will celebrate her legacy of wisdom, love, humor and grace.

The family would like to thank IHC Hospice staff who compassionately cared for her during her final days.
