LAYTON a" Margaret Emma Gallacher Ricks, 87, passed away Sunday, November 28, 2010. She was born in Salt Lake City, Utah on March 22, 1923 to Jean and Norval Gallacher.
Margaret was raised in Salt Lake City, Utah and graduated from East High School. She married Jack Ricks on October 25, 1945 and they started their family in Salt Lake City. Later they moved to Centerville, Utah, where they lived for the remainder of their lives.
She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and was a wonderful homemaker. She always provide for all the needs of her family. Margaret was an avid and beautiful quilter for many years and was a member of different quilt groups. She was also a member of DUP. She loved flowers and had a large, beautiful yard. She especially loved and enjoyed Christmas and prepared for it for many months, however her family was always her most important focus.
Surviving are her son, Jack A. (Cynthia) Ricks, Nevada City, CA; daughter, Kathryn (Wayne) Balle, Layton; son-in-law, Denny Randall, Salt Lake City; 11 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are her brothers, Doug (Betty) Gallacher, Don (Anita) Gallacher, Lowell Gallacher and sister, Barbara (Wayne) Hadley. Preceded in death by her husband Jack J. Ricks, daughter, Jeanie Randall, brothers, Norval and Scott and sister, Evelyn. Funeral services will be held Thursday, December 2, 2010 at 11 a.m. at the Centerville Utah Stake Center, 950 N. Main. Friends may visit family on Wednesday from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist''s Bountiful Mortuary, 727 No. 400 E. and Thursday from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. at the church. Interment, Centerville City Cemetery.
