Margaret Swenson Russell

Margaret Swenson Russell, 94, died Wednesday, January 26, 2011 at Heritage Park Care Center.

She was born January 25, 1917 in Ogden, a daughter of Carl A. and Ella M. Taylor Swenson. Her dad was from Drammen, Norway.

Margaret married William Blair Russell on July 12, 1935 in Ogden. Their marriage was solemnized in the Logan LDS Temple in 1964. Blair preceded her in death on June 9, 1983.

She was raised in Ogden. Margaret''s family had a farm for a few years in Kanesville. She resided most of her life in Weber County. Margaret was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and attended the Roy 1st and 14th Wards. She loved teaching Primary and did so for 34 years. She also served in the Relief Society Presidency at the Weber Memorial Hospital. Margaret loved to read her scriptures.

She joined the National Health Federation in 1959 and from that became involved with local and national politics. She also served as a voting judge.

She was a fantastic cook resulting from a family of 17. She loved canning the year''s harvest. Mom was also like a nurse a€" always caring for her children, husband and all family members that needed her. She loved gardening and especially enjoyed red roses. Mom cherished her children with her entire heart a€" "I love you all".

The family expresses special thanks to Heritage Park Care Center for the loving care they provided to our Mom.

Surviving are three sons and two daughters, W. Scott (Marty) Russell, Ogden; Jeff B. Russell, California; Robert C. (Angela) Russell, Roy; Pennie R. (David) Powell, West Point; Margaret E. (Clark) Roberts, Roy; 25 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren and 28 great-great-grandchildren.

Also surviving are two brothers, Richard Swenson, Ogden; Eugene Swenson, Salt Lake City; two daughters-in-law, Vaunda (Marvin) Russell and Carol (Roger) Russell, both of South Ogden.

Preceding her in death were her parents, husband, two sons, Marvin B. and Roger M., 12 brothers and sisters, and her dog, Kibbles.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Lindquist''s Roy Mortuary, 3333 West 5600 South.

Family will meet with friends at the mortuary on Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Tuesday 12:30 to 1:45 p.m.

Interment, Lindquist''s Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to the Heritage Park Gift Shop or the Weber Humane Society.
