Margaret Pearl Smith Tribe
Ogden – Our sweet Margie girl left her mortal body behind in the presence of her children on August 11, 2011 from causes incident to age. She was born September 10, 1930 to Elias Smith and Ernestine Hansen Smith in Linden Arizona. She moved to Utah in 1948. While she was attending Utah State University in Logan Utah, she met and later married Dr. Dale L. Tribe June 28, 1951. They later divorced but always remained friends.
She was an active member of the LDS church. She worked in all the church organizations in various positions from the age of 15 until she suffered a massive stroke in 1994. She was a past president of Weber County Dental Auxiliary and held many positions in both local and state auxiliaries. She was a member of Mystae Literature Club and a former president of that organization. She was Vice President of Weber County Republican Women and always had a great love for politics. Her hobbies were bridge club where she met and maintained life-long friendships. She also enjoyed golf, reading and many crafts. She had a sweet tooth and loved chocolate especially Mrs. Cavanaugh’s.
She later was a Field Office Manager in Ogden for Senator Jake Garn for seven years, and it was one of the highlights of her life. She loved meeting new people and helping out whenever she could.
Surviving are her three children: Kelly S. Tribe, Julianne Stromberg (Paul), Craig S. Tribe (Christy), 12 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren with one on the way. She was preceded in death by her two sons, Steven Dale and Allen Smith Tribe. Also surviving are three sisters and one brother.
Funeral services will be held Thursday August 18, 2011 at 11 a.m. at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd. Family will meet with friends and loved ones on Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. and on Thursday from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. at the mortuary. Interment, Ogden City Cemetery.
The family wishes to express their deepest gratitude and love to the entire staff at Emeritus Estates, “hugs” to all. Also thanks to Vista Care Hospice and to Cynthia for being with us at the end.
