Margaret Vay Broadbent Walker

March 2, 1936 — October 6, 2024

Margaret Vay Broadbent Walker died on October 6, 2024 at Fairfield Village in Layton, Utah. She was on comfort care due to incurable leukemia. Vay was born on March 2, 1936 in the little old hospital in Heber City Utah, near her grandmother Lota Wilson’s home.

She lived most of her childhood and youth in Logan, Utah, where her father was a teacher and administrator at Utah State University. She graduated with honors from Logan Senior High School and USU, with degrees in elementary education and library science.

She married Clive H. Walker in the Logan LDS Temple on June 8, 1956. She has taught school in Wellsville and Paradise, Utah, and in Woodbridge, Virginia. She has served in school and college libraries at Fort Lewis, Washington, and at Delaware Community College in Media, Pennsylvania.

She has been very active in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, including being a stake Primary President and Ward Relief Society President more than once. She has served three senior missions; Australia Sydney North, Deseret Cattle and Citrus Ranch, and the Church History Library. She has crocheted and donated dozens of blankets and other items for the Church Humanitarian Project. She served for more than a decade as lesson leader for the Oak Country DUP camp.

Her children are Annette (Steven Dickman), Vida Marie (Anthony Streeter) Clive Steven, and Nathan David (Jerilyn Jensen). She and her husband have also sponsored Manjola Beqiri Smolinski, from Albania, through her Graduate College years. Manjola is now a very productive citizen of the USA and mother of two children. Vay has 11 grandchildren and 34 great grandchildren. We will all miss Vay’s generous loving ways and her sparkling personality.
