Margaret “Peg” Smalley

December 18, 1921 ~ December 31, 2015

Our beloved mother left her earthly cares behind on New Year’s Eve surrounded by her loving family.  She was born on December 18, 1921 to Dr James Patrick Dinneen and Edna Marie Hamilton.  She married Don Smalley on April 15, 1947 in Ogden.  Her children and spouses are Lyn (Wade) Gibbs, Jim Smalley, Shaun Kay, Scott (Wendy) Smalley, and Jeff (Jaelynn) Smalley.  She has 13 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

She studied at Weber State College for two years and then went to Mary’s Help Hospital in San Francisco, CA to obtain her Registered Nursing Degree.  She worked for many years as a special duty nurse and later at IRS in the health unit.

She has traveled to many countries, belonged to many bridge clubs, couldn’t pass up a thrift store or a garage sale but most of all, she loved her family unconditionally with all her heart.

Our mom knew the power of a hug, a smile, a kind word, a listening ear, an honest compliment and the smallest act of caring.  That’s the way she lived every day of her life.

If you think of our mom and would like to do something to honor her memory, do this:  Volunteer at a school, church or nursing home; write a letter or call someone and tell them how they have had a positive impact on your life; if you smoke, quit; turn off your cell phones and talk and laugh around the dinner table; always say “please” and “thank you”;  forgive someone who doesn’t deserve it;  and make someone smile today.

Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, January 9, 2016 at 10 a.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church, 1100 East 5560 South, South Ogden.  Friends may visit with family on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd.  Interment, Autorest Memorial Park.
