December 9, 1923 ~ October 19, 2016

Margarita Moreno, 92, a lifelong resident of Ogden, passed away peacefully at her home on Wednesday, October 19, 2016, surrounded by her loving family.  She was born on December 9, 1923 in Ogden to Desiderio and Manuela (Moreno) Moreno.  Margarita was the second of three children and more than anything she loved her family.

After completing school she worked for many years as a laundress at St. Benedict’s Hospital and later as a housekeeper.  After becoming a CNA, she served as a skilled caregiver.

Margarita was one of the first women in the State of Utah to gain custody as a single woman of a child and she raised Rosalinda Amador Gutierrez as her very own daughter.

She will be remembered for her wit and sense of humor, her generosity, and her wonderful example.

Margarita is survived by her daughter, Rose (Carter) Cooper; grandsons, Michael (Michelle) Jones and Garrett Cooper; great-grandchildren, Akira, Amanda, and Darick; and by numerous nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents, sister, Felipa Peña; and brother, Manuel Moreno.

Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, October 25, 2016 at 11 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 514 24th St.  Friends may visit with family on Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. with Rosary at 7 p.m. and Tuesday from 9 to 10:30 a.m. at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd.  Interment, Lindquist’s Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd.

Special thanks to IHC Hospice, particularly Julie, and all of the aides that came to help with mother.
