Margery Owens Berube

December 27, 1923 ~ July 16, 2014

Our wonderful wife, mother, and greatest grandmother, Margery Jones Owens Berube, passed away at her home, returning to her Heavenly Father and reuniting with her parents and sister on July 16, 2014.

She was born on December 27, 1923 in Malad City, Idaho to Sylvester T. and Ann J. Owens.  She lived in Malad and on the family farm in Cherry Creek.  She graduated from Malad High School in 1942.  She moved to Ogden in 1944 to work at the Ogden Depot.  She met Lucien J. Berube while working there and they were married on April 13, 1946.  They later had their vows solemnized in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Logan Temple.  She retired from the Internal Revenue Service Center where she worked for twenty years. She lived in Ogden for fifty years, and moved to North Ogden twenty years ago.

Margery had a very strong faith and was always active in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.  She loved her monthly visiting teacher duties and visiting with her loving neighbors and friends.  She was a dedicated daughter to her parents and spent many days taking care of and nursing her parents.  She enjoyed attending her children’s sporting activities and was a strong supporter of all of her children.  She enjoyed sewing, quilting, knitting, and crocheting and over the years has made many beautiful items for her children and grandchildren.  She enjoyed many outdoor activities with her family, including camping, boating, and fishing.  She and Lucien enjoyed traveling with friends and relatives and spending many winters traveling through Nevada, Arizona and California.  She recently took a cruise to Alaska, which she enjoyed with her husband and twins. Margery’s family was always the most important thing to her and she did all she could to keep them strong and together.  She loved to watch and spend time with her grandchildren whenever possible.

Margery is survived by her husband of over 68 years, Lucien Joseph; twins,  Carl O. Berube, Syracuse, and Carleen Richards, West Valley City; sons, Donald J. (Shirley) Berube, Layton,  and Sylvester Neal (Jeana) Berube, North Ogden;  17 grandchildren, 38  great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren, all of which she loved so much.  She is also survived by her brother, John Wayne (Lajoy) Owens; and brother-in-law, Gerry Rupp.

Margery was preceded in death by her parents, her sister, Ruth Rupp; infant brother, Sylvester Neal Owens; daughter-in-law, Carla J. Berube; grandson, Michael Berube and great-grandchild, Sydney Richards.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, July 21, 2014 at 11 a.m. at the North Ogden 21 ^st LDS Ward Chapel, 626 East 2600 North, North Ogden, Utah.  Friends may visit with the family on Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist’s North Ogden Mortuary, 2140 N. Washington Blvd., and Monday from 9:30 to10:30 a.m. at the church.

The family would like to thank Margery’s great neighbors and ward members for all their loving care and help over the many years, especially Richard and Jenn Wurm for all their time, work and patience caring for both Mom and Dad.
