Margie Lorene Thompson

October 15, 1948 — March 8, 2024

Margie Lorene Thompson, age 75, passed away peacefully on March 8, 2024, in her Layton home following a long battle with illness. Marge was born on October 15, 1948, in Mt. Pleasant, Utah. The family resided in Spring City until moving to Ogden and later settling in Layton. Marge graduated from Davis High School and received her master’s in education from Weber State University. She worked in the Davis School District as a special education teacher.  She touched the lives of many and reminisced about her students often.

Marge valued serving the Lord. She was a very active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints all her life. Marge served a mission in Fance in 1972. She held a variety of callings in her ward, including Sunday School Teacher, Relief Society Presidency, Scout Leader, and Girl’s camp director. Marge had a special place in her heart for the girls’ camp at Lyman Lake. Later in life, Marge also served in the Utah Salt Lake City Headquarters Mission, specifically in the Church History Library.

Marge is survived by her aunt, Pat Hill, and brothers, Gary (Carolee) Thompson and Paul (Karen) Thompson. She was the adoptive mother to Celeste (Jared) Pilcher and is the grandmother of four. Marge was preceded in death by her parents, Ferd and Lorene Thompson, Sister Peggy Carlton, Sister-in-law LeeAnn Thompson, and nephews Andrew Thompson and Dustin Thompson.
