Marguerite Archibald Christensen

May 19, 1921 ~ September 13, 2015

Our beautiful, elegant, forever hardworking mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother passed away on September 13, 2015 at her home in Ogden.  Mom was born on May 19, 1921 to Edmund and Elsie Archibald in Ogden.  She attended Ogden schools and was in the first graduating class of the then new Ogden High School.

She married George Redfield on May 15, 1940.  They had two children, Jeanne (Ernie) Perkins and Richard (Diane) Christensen.  After George passed away in 1943, she married Eugene Chris Christensen on September 20, 1944.  They had four more children, Lindy Sellers, Ron Christensen, Jon (Cindy) Christensen, and Steve (Sherry) Christensen.  She also had eight grandchildren, and thirteen great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.

She was active in the First Baptist Church of Ogden, serving as a Sunday School Teacher, Girl Scout Leader, and Chairman of the Board.  She produced plays and skits involving the youth, was a member of prayer warriors, and held many other positions.  She was also active in the America Baptist Association serving as President of the American Baptist Women of Utah and interim President of the Intermountain American Baptists, representing both nationally.

Mom worked numerous jobs while raising the six kids, accounting/bookkeeper for Sears & Roebuck, clerical jobs and bookkeeper for Christensen Electric Motors.  As an avid gardener she made beautiful floral arrangements which she shared with the church weekly.  She was very proud of her yard, spending numerous hours keeping it beautiful.  Mom was also an excellent seamstress who made all of the gowns for her two daughters weddings.

She taught us responsibility, integrity, compassion, and how we should have a strong work ethic.  One of mom and dad’s rewards for their hardwork was buying a second home in Sun City, Arizona.  There, they enjoyed retirement and it was a great place for the kids to visit.

Mom had a deep faith with the Lord and we know she will have a beautiful and spiritual reunion with family and friends that preceded her in death.

Memorial services will be held on Saturday, October 24, 2015 at 1 p.m. at the First Baptist Church, 2519 Jefferson Ave., Ogden, followed by a Celebration of Life.

A heartfelt thanks to those who gave wonderful care giving to Marguerite including family members, but especially to Brenda Postel and Summit Hospice.
