Marguerite Della Maw Favero

NEWBERG, Oregon a€" Marguerite Favero, 87, died peacefully in her sleep beside her husband of 68 years on Sunday, January 25, 2009. After suffering a severe heart attack August 4, 2008, Marguerite and Jim moved to a retirement center in Newberg, Oregon to be near their daughter during a recovery period.

Marguerite was born November 20, 1921 in Plain City, Utah, a daughter of Walter William and Della Neal Maw. She was sealed to Giacomo (Jim) Favero on November 6, 1940 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.

Marguerite was always actively engaged with her church, family business, community, friends, and most importantly her family. An exceptional seamstress, Marguerite worked for the Utah Tailoring Mills prior to WWII. During the war, while Jim served in the 5th Army in Italy, she did her part for the war effort working as a transportation secretary at the Defense Depot Ogden. After many years of working side by side with her husband in the family business, Favero Shoes, she became the secretary to the Dean of Education at Weber State University, where she worked for over 19 years.

A member of the Ogden 13th Ward, and later the Ogden 55th Ward (now Country Hills Ward), Marguerite served in capacities usually dealing with her great loves, children and music. She served constantly in Primary organizations and received an 18 year "Service in Primary" pin. Later she served as the Junior Sunday School Coordinator for over 13 years. A gifted musician, she played the organ and piano in any setting all her life, entertaining family and friends and soothing troubled hearts with her music. Her love of music was evident from an early age filling her first musical calling at the age of 11 as the Sunday School Organist. She served continually as a ward organist in the Country Hills Ward, her current ward, for 44 years, from 1962 to 2006. For ten years she played the organ weekly in the Ogden LDS Temple. This past Christmas she was found sitting at the piano with her great granddaughter playing for the enjoyment of the family.

Marguerite was an active member of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers and took great pride in her pioneer heritage.

A gracious hostess, cherished friend and loving mother, Marguerite was lovingly unselfish with her home and table. She ''adopted'' as sisters those ladies with whom she worked; took in brothers-in-law and their spouses in times of need; cared constantly and selflessly for her husband and children; and loved her son-in-law and daughter-in-law as if they were her children from their beginning.

The youngest of four children, Marguerite was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Lawrence Maw, and sister, Lila Andrews. She is survived by her sister, Reta Stewart, of Warren, Utah.

Also surviving are Marguerite''s husband, Jim Favero, daughter, Jeanie (G. Michael) Gougler of Newberg, Oregon, son, Randy (Gayla) Favero of Park City, Utah, best friend, Jean Dallinga, nine grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren . . . with two more on the way.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 31, 2009 at 1:00 PM at Lindquist''s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Boulevard, Ogden. Bishop L. Nate Pierce of the Ogden Country Hills Ward will be officiating.

Friends may call at the mortuary on Friday, January 30, 2009 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM and Saturday prior to the services from 11:45 AM to 12:45 PM.
