Maria Diaz Cano

LAYTON – Maria Diaz Cano, 88, passed away July 6, 2017.

She was born January 23, 1929 the daughter of Jesus and Octaviana Hernandez Diaz in Los Pinos, Durango, Mexico.  She was the oldest of 10 children.

Maria married Juan Manuel Cano in 1946.  He preceded her in death on January 13, 1979.

She was a member of Saint Rose of Lima Catholic Church.  She was involved in the Choir, Rosary and group retreats.

Maria worked at the Salt Lake School District as a teaching assistant.

She loved cooking, gardening and spending time with her family.

Surviving are her five sons, two daughters, 15 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, one brother and four sisters.

Proceeded in death by her parents, husband and four siblings.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, July 11, 2017 at 10 a.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church, 1100 E. 5550 So., South Ogden.  Friends may visit family Monday from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road.  A Vigil with Rosary will be held at 7:30 p.m.
