Maria R. Herrera
OGDEN – Maria Regina Herrera, 47, died Sunday, October 5, 2008 at her home of cancer.
She was born May 14, 1961 in Ogden, a daughter of Arthur B. and Anna G. Pena Gallegos.
Maria married Juan A. Herrera. They were later divorced, but remained good friends.
She was raised and educated in Utah, and was a member of the Catholic Church.
Maria enjoyed playing pool, putting together puzzles, but most of all she loved the time she spent with her children and grandchildren.
Surviving are her former husband, Juan A. Herrera, one son and four daughters, Juan A. (Jessica) Herrera, Jr., Anitra A. Herrera, Crystal Galligan, Cassandra Herrera, Rachel Herrera, and 22 grandchildren.
Also surviving are her mother, Anna Gallegos, four brothers and two sisters, James “Jimmy” (Yvette) Gallegos, Gary (Anna) Gallegos, Arthur Jr. (Stephanie) Gallegos, Terrance Gallegos, Ramona (Ruben) Herrera, Lillie (Mario) Gallegos.
Preceding Maria in death were her father, Arthur Gallegos, her brother, Ricky Dallas Gallegos, and her grandparents.
Special thanks to her mother, her very good friend, Casey, her aunts, Anna Jane Arroya, and Aunt Shanie, daughters, Cassie and Rachel, all of who cared for her until her death; also thanks to the staff of hospice, especially nurse Jill. Thanks also to all who donated.
Friends may call at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd., on Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m.
Cremation, under the direction of Lindquist’s Crematory, will follow the visitation.
Graveside services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at Lindquist’s Memorial Gardens of the Wasatch, 1718 Combe Road.
