Maria "Emma" Martinez

CLEARFIELD a€" Maria "Emma" Martinez, passed away on Saturday, July 10, 2010.

Born on June 12, 1938, in Mora, New Mexico, she is a daughter of Alex (Bernice) Martinez.

She married Julian M Garcia, August 15, 1959 (who later passed away). She then married Alfred "Jose" Martinez on July 12, 1987.

She worked at Albion Labs, and BD medical supplies.

She was the Matriarch of the family, she dedicated her life to her children and grandchildren, and she loved Wendover, outdoors, camping, and spending time with family.

She is survived by her husband Alfred "Jose", children; Irene Gallegos, Debbie (Jim) Grygier, Leonard Garcia, brothers; Joe (Rita) Martinez, Ben (Angelina) Martinez, Charlie Martinez, sisters; Rosie Garcia, Rachel (Chris) Gallegos, Lucy Perez, Elsie Jaramillo, Lynn (Willy) Griego, grandchildren; Angello (Kelli) Lopez, Jennifer (Deven) Curtis, Jilyn Valdez, Mikey (Lacy) Valdez, Feliz (LT) Weaver, Jason Williams, Alicia Lopez, Gavin Grygier, step-grandchildren; Marcel Martinez, Jesika (John) Crosby, Matthew (Windy) Chavez, Michael Chadwick, eight great-grandchildren, six step-great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by parents, late husband, son Paul J Garcia, and son-in-law Sam Gallegos.

If tears could build a stairway and memories a lane, I''d walk right up to Heaven and bring you home again.

Mass of the Christian Burial will be held Saturday, July 17, 2010 at 9 a.m. at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, 210 South Chapel Street, Layton, followed by a memorial service from 11 to 12 p.m. at Lindquist''s Clearfield Mortuary, 1050 South State Street. Friends may visit family from 10 to 11 a.m. at the mortuary. Interment, Clearfield City Cemetery.
