Maria B. Overduyn

Maria Johanna Geergrui Blok Overduyn, 97, passed away Monday, April 21, 2008.

She was born July 29, 1910 in Rotterdam, Netherlands to Leendert Blok and Frederika Willamina Finke.

In 1938 Maria moved to Salt Lake City. She married Johannes Overduyn March 30, 1940 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. They moved to Clearfield with their children in 1950.

She was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where she held many Young Womens positions in the Clearfield 7th Ward. For many years she was an Ogden Temple Ordinance Worker, which she thoroughly enjoyed.

Maria was very proud of her American Citizenship.

Her children where very dear to her, along with their spouses and their children, she loved gardening and her beautiful home. She enjoyed handiwork, knitting, and crocheting.

Maria is survived by her children, J. Richard (Diane) Overduyn, West Point; Mark E. (Peggy) Overduyn, Roy; 18 grandchildren and 38 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, John, a daughter, Lillian and son-in-law, Gary Fisher, eight brothers and sisters.

Graveside services will be held Tuesday, April 29th at 3:00 p.m. at the West Point Cemetery, Bluff Road.

The family will meet friends on Tuesday from 1:45 to 2:45 p.m. at the Lindquist''s Roy Mortuary, 3333 West 5600 South.
