Marian S. Sant
BOUNTIFUL - Our kind and gentle mother, grandmother, and friend, Marian Eva Shaw Sant, valiantly completed her sojourn on earth and returned to her Heavenly home on Tuesday, May 12, 2009.
Born on August 27, 1927 to Austin H. and Eva B. Shaw in Ogden, Utah, Marian was beloved and cherished by her parents, two older brothers, and extended family. She spent her childhood in Ogden, graduating from Ogden High. She attended Weber College, Utah State University, and BYU, earning her Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education. Many little children benefited from Marian’s truly patient ways. She loved teaching, and each of her students surely knew she loved them.
Marian was a true disciple of Christ. She was charitable, refined, noble, steadfast, forgiving, and had immense faith. Her life reflected her love and devotion to her Savior. A faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, she was always willing to serve and found her greatest joy in serving in the Primary.
Her passing reflected the manner in which she lived her life, bearing her trials with dignity and grace. Directly prior to her passing, her greatest concern was for her daughters, sons-in-law, and grandchildren, who adored her. She was continually reassuring them and thanking all who were around her. Her legacy will be her loving, non-judgmental nature and her understanding heart.
She is survived by her four daughters, Susanne (Mark) Wiggins, Marian Jeane Sant, Kathy Sant Winward, Shari (David) Monk, and her grandchildren, Austin (Katherine) Wiggins; Jenna (Bryan) Morgan; McKay, Katelyn, Megan, and Matthew Winward; Mya, Jackson, Samuel, Jonny, and Nicholas Monk.
Marian was preceded in death by her parents and brothers, John A. “Jack” Shaw, and Grant B. Shaw.
Marian would want us to express her special gratitude and ours to Robert Chandler, Sandee Southwick, Carla Chamblin, and Dr. Natalie Sanders for the loving and gentle manner in which they took care of “our Mama.” Thank you, also, to all of her caring friends and neighbors for their love and concern.
Marian had a special place in her heart for all of God’s creations, especially her faithful canine companions. In Marian’s honor, please take a moment to plant a flower, listen to a bird sing, or read to a child.
