Mariane Hansen Harwood

Beloved daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, Mariane Hansen Harwood, age 61, died suddenly at her home on June 23, 2017.

Mariane was born to parents Dan and Dorothy Hansen on January 3, 1956 in Bountiful, Utah. She is the youngest of seven children and attended Viewmont High School. On July 21, 1995  she married Jay Harwood which completed his family, consisting of two daughters which she had already been helping to raise.

Mariane was an office manager of four different real estate agencies until she retired in 2003 to become a caregiver for her grandchildren.  Mariane truly shined in her role as a grandmother. She loved, nurtured, entertained, taught, and spoiled her granddaughters. She is adored by her grandchildren and will be deeply missed.

Mariane was a talented seamstress and a gifted homemaker. Her family enjoyed gathering for meals including Mystery Food Wednesdays, which was always a treat (except for her rolls that were usually hollow.) No one ever left her house hungry, unattended to, or disappointed in the quality of the meal.  Mariane saw to it that everyone’s favorite treats were always well-stocked and available. It was impossible to have an empty glass in her home. Mariane loved her family and took very good care of them.  She will be greatly missed by family and friends.

Mariane is survived by her husband Jay Harwood; bonus daughters Sandy Porter and Jaynee Piontkowski; grandchildren Chloe, Kate, and Haden Porter, and Jayla Piontkowski; siblings David Hansen, Steven Hansen, Juelle Sorensen, and Linda Zobell. She was preceded in death by parents Dan and Dorothy and siblings Judith Ann Knight and John Hansen.

Due to her request, there will be no funeral service. Her family is grateful for the condolences, but declines flowers and donations.  Arrangements entrusted to Lindquist’s Bountiful Mortuary.
