Marianne Nixon Huss

April 22, 1930 ~ April 29, 2014

Marianne Nixon Huss, 84, passed away peacefully in the early morning hours of Tuesday, April 29, 2014.  She was born on April 22, 1930 to James Filmore and Edith Wright Nixon in Pocatello, ID.  She grew up on a ranch beneath Sawtell Peak on Henry’s Lake in Idaho.  She had a love for all animals, but particularly horses, maybe even skunks.

She met her future husband on a blind date in Ogden. After courting for five years, Marianne and George Douglas Huss were engaged and a year later on September 22, 1952 they were married at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Ogden.  Doug passed away on October 30, 1988.

Marianne was the greatest mom on earth; a truly devoted wife and mother.  She enjoyed birdwatching, crafts, needlepoint, painting, puzzles, card games, and lunches at the Greenery at Rainbow Gardens.  She had a crush on Tom Selleck; he was “stone cold”, but Neil Diamond was a close second. Most important were her children, grandchildren, whom she adored.

Marianne is survived her sons, Cliff Huss, North Ogden and Jim (Stacy) Huss, North Ogden; daughter, Dawn M. Huss (Dana Thomas), Morgan Hill, CA; five grandchildren, Lindsay, Robyn, Hayden (Cici), Sydnie, and Kolby; and her cats, CeCe and Ali.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Doug  and parents, Jim and Edith.

Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, May 2, 2014 at 3 p.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 514 24 th St., Ogden.  Friends may visit with family on Friday from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. at Lindquist’s North Ogden Mortuary, 2140 N. Washington Blvd.

Interment, Lindquist’s Memorial Gardens of the Wasatch, 1718 Combe. Rd.
