Marianne Taylor, known as Maze, mama or granny by her family, was born on February 9, 1943 in Ogden, Utah to Ernest and Maurine Taylor. Marianne grew up in Ogden and graduated from Bonneville High School. Marianne is survived by her 3 daughters: Tina Montes, Carla Hartmann and Susan Hartmann. Her girls and her grandchildren were her absolute pride and joy.
She was a very generous, dedicated, actively involved, patient and fun granny to her grandchildren. Andrew Garcia, Rachel Barker (Brett Barker), Madison Taylor (Hunter Burningham) and Tre Pearson (Riah Flores) all who were raised loving Ovaltine and who have such amazing memories of their granny; from teaching them to drive at a way too young of an age, planting marigolds and petunias, countless summer hours spent outside playing in the sun and water, and her love for 3D movies. There wasn’t a football game, baseball game or gymnastics meet that she ever missed. She also has 4 great-grandchildren; Chaz Barker, Adrian Garcia, Ava Barker and Zeke Barker who are each fortunate to have been given a “one-of-a-kind” family heirloom hand-made quilt just for them by their great-granny when they were born.
Her passion for sewing became her main hobby and kept her busy for hours after she retired from Goldenwest Credit Union. Her future new-born family members will be blessed for generations to come with color coordinated, themed handmade baby blankets as she entrusted bins full of them to her granddaughter Rachel for safe keeping. Her spunky and quick-witted personality will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Marianne was preceded in death by her parents; her older brother Dennis Taylor and younger sister Connie Jensen, as well as her two beloved dogs Radar and Cozy.
Marianne’s family will be hosting a Celebration of Life in her honor on Saturday, May 13, 2023 from 5:30-8:30 pm at The Hope Center, 5051 S 1900 W in Roy, Utah at the front entrance near the flag pole.
In lieu of flowers please make a donation to the local Humane Society in her name.
