Marie C. Anderson

June 10, 1921 – July 31, 2021

Salt Lake City, Utah – Marie C. Anderson, 100, passed away peacefully on July 31, 2021.  Marie was born in Emery, Utah on June 10, 1921 to Dorion Christiansen and Blenda Ottosen.  Marie attended Green River High School where she graduated top of her class.  Soon after graduation she moved to Salt Lake City to work as a nanny, which led her to a brief modeling career.  On September 18, 1941, she married Donald O. Anderson in Wells, Nevada.

Marie is survived by her sister, Ilabelle Bell; daughter, Elaine “Lainey” Deering; son, G. Paul Anderson; 9 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; and 8 great, great grandchildren.  Preceded in death by her husband, Donald O. Anderson; her parents; sisters, Lucille Fillmore and Nona Seely; and her brother, Leigh Christiansen.

Marie was actively involved in community affairs throughout her life, spending time on the Beta Sigma Phi Salt Lake City Council, the Salt Lake City Council of Women and the Women’s Republican Club of Salt Lake City.  She was proud to have served as a recovery room Pink Lady at St. Mark’s Hospital.

Marie spent years researching and traveling throughout the country, ultimately authoring, with the support from her husband Don’s photography, a 444 page book titled “The Reasoner Story,” based on the Reasoner family history from 1665-1990.  She published hundreds of copies of her book, one of which resides in the National Archives.

Marie found immense joy in helping others and always looked for the goodness in everyone.  She provided loving support and assistance to her parents in their elder years, her siblings, her children and her grandchildren throughout her life.

The family would like to thank her grandson, James Murphy, and great grandson, Braedon Murphy, who gave her constant care in her home over the past several years.
