HARRISVILLE – Marie Hamblin Knight, 79, died Friday, December 19, 2008 in Ogden.
She was born February 26, 1929 in Clearfield, a daughter of Emery John and Bertha Marie Paice Hamblin.
On May 20, 1949, Marie married Lowell E. Knight in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.
She was raised and educated in Clearfield graduating from Davis High School. She lived in Harrisville for the past 55 years.
She was the co-founder and bookkeeper for Knight Electric established in 1962.
Marie was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served as both the ward and stake Young Women’s President, and ward Relief Society and Primary President. She served nine missions plus six stake missions, an Ogden Temple officiator, and in the name extraction program,
She served as the Vice President and President of the Pioneer Elementary P.T.A.
Marie enjoyed cooking, sewing, quilting and made countless quilts for the newborn babies at McKay-Dee Hospital.
Surviving are her husband, Lowell, of Harrisville; seven sons and two daughters, Guy (Michelle) Knight, Harrisville; Ross (Becky) Knight, Pleasant View; Rich (Kristie) Knight, Harrisville; Val (Wanda) Knight, Farr West; Larry (Connie) Knight, Pleasant View; Mark (Julie) Knight, Farr West; Glain (Julie) Knight, Harrisville; Janet (Kevin) Varble, Harrisville; Denice (Earl) Laughter, Petaluma, CA; 52 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren.
Also surviving are one brother and three sisters, Burt John Hamblin, Ogden; Fay Jacobs, Ogden; Alice Dickson, Echo; and Ruth Jarvis, Clearfield.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one daughter-in-law, Tyana Jones Knight.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at the Harrisville Stake Center, 113 Child Avenue, with Bishop Kenneth Loveland of the Harrisville 1st Ward, officiating.
Friends may call at Lindquist’s North Ogden Mortuary, 2140 North Washington Blvd., on Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Tuesday at the Stake Center from 9 to 10:45 a.m.
