Marie Lloyd
Pie-Lady
FRUIT HEIGHTS - Marie Morgan Smith Lloyd Our loving mother, grandmother and friend has returned home to our Father in Heaven. She passed peacefully the morning of February 5, 2018. Marie was born on September 6, 1922 to Albert Blencoe & Martha Morgan Smith. Her siblings were Lucille Argyle and Vern Smith. She grew up in Clearfield Utah and attended Davis High School where she met and later married her sweetheart Lewis “Reed” Lloyd.
They have one son Allen Smith Lloyd Together they established and ran Lloyd’s Elite mobile home park and fruit orchard. Marie had an incredible work ethic and found great pleasure in manicuring her beautiful flower beds, garden and yard. She spent countless hours’ handmaking gifts for everyone. She was the first one up and the last to go to bed. She was a perfect example of how we should serve others. Every new neighbor received a pie, every new baby a blanket, a dinner for someone in need, patience in teaching someone a new skill, or just a listening ear. She also loved serving in her church callings and loved her time serving as an ordinance worker in the Ogden Temple. She was fondly referred to as the pie lady, after years of teaching pie making classes and the thousands of pies she made for Cherry Hill and her many friends. She loved to cook and bake and was overjoyed when she had the chance to feed you!
She loved being a part of the community and was a member of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers. We will always remember our Gram standing at her counter making pies, roast beef dinners (even when we went camping), her unconditional love and her selfless service, and we give thanks for the many things she taught us.
Marie is survived by her son Allen S Lloyd, her granddaughters, Diane (John) Beagley, and Valerie Gale. Her great grandchildren, Austin and Landon Hammer, Jessica (Scott) Newburn, Ashton (Tanna) Beagley, Taylor and Hannah Beagley , 6 precious great-great grandchildren, and countless friends and neighbors all of whom she loved as family.
