Marie Martell Reid
Marie Martell Reid, 74, passed away Tuesday, February 23, 2021. She was unexpectedly called home to her Heavenly Parents due to heart failure. Her passing was peaceful and serene with loved ones by her side.
Marie was born November 12, 1946 the daughter of Warren H. Martell and Gladys Wright Robbins in Payson, Utah. She was raised in Santaquin and graduated from Payson High School. During her married years, she resided in Cottonwood Heights, Fruit Heights, and Layton. The many friendships she created in all these places were always close to her heart.
She married her high school sweetheart Kirk Reid on September 7, 1967 in the Manti, Utah Temple. Marie was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Mom will always be remembered for her acts of kindness, generosity, selflessness, and the way she cared so much for everyone else. She had a unique way of making each individual feel special, loved, and important with every interaction she had with them. This made for incredibly deep and meaningful relationships, especially with her family. Her eyes would glisten with joy whenever she was with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Family was everything!
Saying mom was a book worm is an understatement - she loved to read! Seeing her with a blanket, a book, and a favorite snack is a comforting memory for all of us. She loved to bake, but it was more about giving and providing than the baking. No one ever left her house with an empty stomach or without her offering everything in the pantry, fridge, freezer, and maybe even the garden. In recent years she loved spending time in the Corvette with her long time best friend and companion, Kirk. Putting on some 60’s, 70’s, or classical music and taking in all the sights was how she loved enjoying God’s creations.
Marie was the friendly smile at Barnes Bank for 19 years. She was a teller for most of those years and finished her career in Human Resources. She cherished the relationships she created with her co-workers and customers at the bank.
Surviving are her husband Kirk, daughters, Amy, Andrea (Steve), sons, Ryan (Michelle), Mitch (Andrea), 15 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and 13 siblings.
