Marie McEntire Sill

Marie McEntire Sill, 93, passed away Wednesday, December 9, 2015 at her home.  She was a life-long resident of Davis County.

She was born August 5, 1922 in Clearfield, Utah the daughter of James Arthur and Sarah Orton McEntire.

Marie graduated from Davis High School and attended Utah State University.

Marie married Eldon Emmett Sill on September 29, 1943 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.  As a teenager she worked at the Woods Cross Cannery and during WWII at the Ogden Arsenal.  She retired from the Davis School Food Services.

She held many positions in the LDS Church and served the community by serving as an election official.

Marie learned good work ethics on the family farm, and passed that on to her children and grandchildren.  She was an excellent well known cook.  Everyone loved her pastries.

She is survived by her children, Diatra (Frank) Wilko, Stephen (Vorelle) Sill, Layton; Gregory (Carmen) Sill, Manteca, CA; Claudine (Lanny), Fish Haven, ID; Douglas (Barbara) Sill, Layton; Teresa (Rex) Allen, Dover, PA; 24 grandchildren, 48 great-grandchildren and one sister, Mauna Morgan, Layton.

Preceded in death by her husband, parents, four sisters, four brothers, one granddaughter and two great-grandchildren.

Funeral service will be held Monday, December 14, 2015 at 11 a.m. at Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road.  Friends may visit family Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Monday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the mortuary.  Interment, Kaysville City Cemetery.
