Marilyn Moyes Brown, 87, passed away peacefully on Friday, September 30, 2022 surrounded by loved ones. She was born on July 21, 1935 in Ogden, Utah, the daughter of Jesse Field and Lula Francis Moyes. She attended Ogden City Schools and graduated from Ogden High School where she served as Student Body Vice-President. She attended Weber State College for one year where she was Phoenix’s Sweetheart of the Year, and Snowball Queen and transferred to the University of Utah and graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing in 1957.
She married Hubert Rampton Barlow, Jr. on December 30, 1957 in the Salt Lake City Temple. Together they had five children; their first daughter passed away at birth.They later divorced. She married Warren Douglas Brown on October 19, 1984, in the Provo Utah Temple. She embraced his family as her own and was loved by them as well. Warren passed away on January 20, 2011.
Marilyn was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served faithfully in many callings including Young Womens several times, Primary Counselor, Relief Society Counselor, Cub Scout Leader, Provo Temple Baptistry Missionary, and Consultant at the Family History Center.
She was a member of the Idaho State Board of Nursing and was a very accomplished nurse. She worked in the Psych Ward, Medical and Surgical, Newborn ICU, Dialysis and at the Veterans Hospital.
Marilyn enjoyed sewing, baking, crocheting, and knitting. She loved people. She was a devoted and beloved mother and grandmother. She made it a goal to crochet a blanket for each of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Marilyn is survived by her children, Bonnie Marie (Ronald) McMillan of Alpine, UT; Mary Louise (David) Taylor of Kaysville, UT; Hubert Rampton (Darci) Barlow III of Alpine, UT; and Katherine Ann (Carv) Wilson of Syracuse, UT; stepchildren, Brent B. (Alyson) Brown of Orem, UT; Kam C. Brown of Orem, UT; and Kelli Ann (Dan) Rutherford of West Valley, UT; 27 grandchildren and 61 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Warren; daughter, Belinda; parents; siblings, twins Jesse Eugene Moyes and Bernadine Moyes (who passed away 24 hours after her birth); daughter-in-law, Joanna; and husband, Hubert.
Graveside services will be held on Thursday, October 6, 2022 at 11:45 a.m. at Ogden City Cemetery. Friends may visit with family on Thursday from 10 to 11 a.m. at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd.
