Marilyn Giles

April 2, 1924 — June 14, 2019

Marilyn Maud Brown Giles

Marilyn died peacefully in her own home on Friday, June 14, 2019 in Centerville, UT at the age of 95. She was mere feet away from her parent's home in which she was born.

She was born on April 2, 1924 in Centerville, UT to John Alwood Brown and Maud Gould Brown. She had one sister, Elizabeth Jane "Betty" Brown Fishburn, who preceded her in death.

Marilyn grew up on her parent's farm/orchard/turkey ranch in Centerville, UT. She graduated from Davis High School in 1942 and married William Doyle "Point" Giles after the war in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. They had two loving children, Roxann Giles and Mark Brown Giles. She had one nephew and four nieces, whom she adored. In 1960 she went back to school and became a nurse and worked for a number of years.

Marilyn had a life-long love of flowers and gardening, which she put her heart and soul into. Year after year, she was well known for her beautiful gardens and they were always highlighted by her many well-loved roses. She had a kind, generous spirit and a fun and tenacious character. She was adventurous and loved travel.

Her husband of 43 years passed away in 1991. Marilyn then moved to Fort Mohave, AZ with her new love, Ray West. They lived there happily until Ray passed away. She moved back to Centerville in 2014 to be with her family in her last years. Both Roxann and Mark helped her out a great deal. Mark Giles gave of himself tirelessly for the last three years. He cared for her and visited her many times a day.

Marilyn is survived by her two children, Roxann, who is married to Kevin Angerbauer and Mark (Edith). She has six grandchildren, whom are all her favorite, and ten great grandchildren.

The family would like to thank Marilyn’s hospice nurses, Melissa and Gayle.  They are wonderful women!
