Marilyn Davis Hurst

November 1, 1932 ~ May 27, 2017

Marilyn Davis Hurst passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, on Saturday, May 27, 2017 after a long battle of dementia/Alzheimer’s disease.

She was born November 1, 1932 to Les and Rose Mcfarland Davis. She was raised in Ogden and lived in Roy and Sunset, Utah. She graduated from Ogden High School and from St. Benedict’s School of Nursing in Ogden. Marilyn worked as a Registered Nurse for over 30 years.

On November 19, 1954, Marilyn married the love of her life, Gerald L. Hurst, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple for time and all eternity. They were still very much in love after 62 years of marriage.

She was a devoted member of the LDS Church and held many callings throughout her life. Marilyn loved the members of the wards she lived in. She loved caring for her family and loved them deeply and always helped those in need. Her motto was “when ye are in the service of fellow beings ye are only in the service of your God”.

Marilyn loved music, she played and taught piano lessons for years. Mom loved going camping, square dancing and gardening. She had a delightful sense of humor and will be greatly missed.

A special thanks to Peach Tree Assisted Living, Hospice care nurse, Marci and a special thanks to Joanna for the care they gave to our mother.

Marilyn is survived by her husband, Gerald, two sons, Shane (Debbie) and Michael (Margaret) and daughter Lisa (Frank) Champlin, five grand-children, two great grand-children, brother, Robb Davis and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, sister, Margaret and son, Douglas.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday June 2, 2017 at Lindquist’s Roy Mortuary, 3333 W. 5600 S. The family will meet with friends Thursday from 6 to 8 pm and Friday from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. at the mortuary.

Interment, West Weber Cemetery.
