Marilyn Mae Ford Simmons
CLEARFIELD a" Marilyn Mae Ford Simmons passed away suddenly at age 81 on April 28, 2008. Beloved wife of Edwin Simmons (deceased 10 years), loving mother of Wendy Tegeder (Bob), Seattle, WA; Lori Decker (Gean) Seattle, WA; David Simmons (Terrie) Page, AZ; Tim Simmons (Denice) Clearfield. Her 17 Grandchildren and 7 A½ great-grandchildren were her pride and delight. Also surviving are her brother Dixon and sisters, Lois and Jan.
Born in Provo on Sept 29, 1929 she lived in Wallsburg until entering a government training program to be a nurse during WWII. The war ended before she completed her training, but she went on to become a registered nurse. She worked at various hospitals, winding down her career as a nursing instructor for high school nursing aide students in the Davis County School District. After retirement, she became an avid traveler. Along with journeys to England, the Holy Land, and China, Marilyn and Ed also traveled all over the United States. She was a wonderful artist, painting scenes from her various travels. She and her eternal companion Edwin Simmons served a full-time mission, serving in both Scotland and Nigeria.
She served in many church positions as teacher, Relief Society President and Road Show Director. Her greatest joy was that of devoted wife to Ed. They were married in Provo and later sealed in the Salt Lake Temple. Her love and sensitivity have been an inspiration to her friends and family.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 3, 2008 at 2 p.m. at the Lindquist''s Layton Mortuary, 1867 North Fairfield Road. Friends and family may call Saturday from 12:45 to 1:45 prior to the service.
