In loving memory of our mother Marilyn Tuke, who passed away on December 25, 2022. She was born in Manti, Utah on January 15, 1938 to Lawrence Robert and Mable Braithwaite Nelson. She was the second oldest of four children. She lived in Ephraim, Utah, Salt Lake City, Utah, Elsinore, Utah and Layton, Utah.
She was the devoted wife of Duane Crawford Tuke. They were married in the Salt Lake Temple on January 21, 1955. She was the loving mother of Terry (Linda) Tuke, Dennis (Tammi) Tuke, Steven Tuke, Debra (Evan) Karlson, Randy (Shannon) Tuke and Jenn (Ryan) Aday. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Our mother was a kind, caring and giving person who always put the needs of her family before her own. She was a strong woman who faced every challenge in her life with courage and dignity. Our mother was a source of inspiration to us all and she will be deeply missed by everyone whose lives she touched,
Growing up, Marilyn was always there for us, whether we needed help with our homework or just a shoulder to cry on.
She was a woman of strong faith, and she instilled in us the importance of family hard work and doing what is right, Our mother was a true role model who will always look up to.
She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where she served in many callings, she was Relief Society President two times, served in cub scouts, genealogy, and as a stake missionary. She was also a member of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers.
She had been employed with the I.R.S. in the sorting department, as well as working in the school lunch program for the Davis County School District.
She enjoyed sewing, cooking, crocheting, camping, cake decorating, upholstery, quilting, and crafting.
Marilyn is survived by her children; Terry Lee (Linda) Tuke, Dennis M. (Tammi) Tuke, Steven R. Tuke, Debra Annette (Evan) Karlson, Randy Mark (Shannon) Tuke, Jennifer (Ryan) Aday, her grandchildren; Joshua D. Tuke, Alisa Day, Nathan John Tuke, Jefferson H. (Mickelle) Tuke, Crystal Lyn (Israel) Hernandez, Adam (Amanda) Day, Jayden Tuke and his fiancé Hayley Witte, Tayler Magali Ramirez, Antonio Wayne Fernando Armijos, Ashley Tuke, Rebecca Lyn Tuke, Austin Dennis Tuke, Bryson Tuke, Ryan Karlson, Clayton Karlson, Lisa Foley, great-grandchildren, Jordan Marie Tuke, Kyler Thomas Hohlios, Colton Crystian Hernandez, Brooklyn Pemberton, Michael Dunkley, Clark DeTorres, Justin U. Tuke, Cambrielle Ester Hernandez, Avaya McKenna Ramirez, Declan Day, Theodore J. Tuke, Evelyn (Evie) Lorielle Armijos, Alina Mae Ramirez, Athena Rose Tuke, Liam Karlson, Levi Karlson, Dax Lambson, and Lake Lambson. Her sister Linda (Victor) Hamilton and sisters-in-law Carol Nelson and Janice Nelson.
She is preceded in death by her husband Duane Crawford Tuke, her parents Lawrence Robert and Mable Braithwaite Nelson, brothers; Kay Nelson, Kenneth Nelson, grandson Timothy Jacob Tuke, great-grandson Haven Lambson.
A special thank you to Dr. Michael Neilson who was her doctor for many years, as well as being a good friend.
Mom, you will always be in our hearts, and we will never forget you. We love you so much. Rest in Peace.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, January 3, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Rd., Layton, Utah. Friends may visit with family Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Tuesday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the mortuary prior to the service.
Interment, Lindquist’s Memorial Park at Layton.
