Marion LaVerl Allan

Marion LaVerl Allan, 81, passed away on January 21, 2015 in Ogden, Utah.

He was born on September 3, 1933 the son of Henry Kirby and Sarah Jane Barker Allan in Springville, Utah.

Marion served in the U.S. Navy from 1953 to 1957.

He married Joanne Sheppard on April 18, 1958 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.

He was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in various callings, including Finance Clerk and Seventy.

Marion liked BYU sports and coin collecting.

Surviving are his five sons: Richard, Clearfield; Brian (Brenda), Layton; David (April), Layton; Jeffrey, Layton; Gary (Kyle), Ogden; 19 grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren with two more that he met on January 21, 2015, and sister, Lenore Brinkerhoff, Orem.

Preceded in death by his sweetheart Joanne, parents, four brothers and their spouses, one sister and her spouse, brother-in-law, and daughter-in-law, DeAnn.

Funeral services will be held Monday, January 26, 2015 at 11 a.m. at the Layton Stake Center, 60 W. Gordon, Layton. Friends may visit family Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road and Monday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the church.

Interment, Lindquist’s Memorial Park at Layton, 1867 No. Fairfield Road.

In lieu of flowers, the family is asking that donations be made to BYU Athletics in dad’s name. “GO COUGARS!”

The family would also like to thank the staff of McKay-Dee Hospital, the staff of Legacy (Fairfield Village) and the staff at Mt. Ogden Rehab for their kind and excellent care of our father over the past year.
