Marion Merrill Allen
WASHINGTON TERRACE a" Marion Merrill Allen died Monday, February 23, 2009 of heart failure and complications of kidney disease.
Merrill was born November 6, 1927 at the family home in Richmond, Cache County, Utah, a son of Marion Elijah and Georgia Merrill Allen. He attended school in Richmond until 14 years of age when the family moved to Ogden. He graduated from Ogden High School in 1946 where he was active in R.O.T.C. He served in the U.S. Navy in the South Pacific at the end of World War II.
Merrill married Viola Mary Richins on September 5, 1950 at Peterson Morgan, Utah. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Logan LDS Temple.
He retired from Hill Air Force Base as a foreman in aircraft sheet metal.
Merrill was a High Priest in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where he served as secretary of the Elder''s Quorum and was a Home Teacher.
Merrill was an excellent mechanic and enjoyed working on trucks, cars and motorcycles. He shared his mechanical abilities with friends, neighbors and family. He had a friendly personality and was always willing to help others.
He loved to fish, hunt, and camp in the high Uinta Mountains. He enjoyed listening to country music.
Merrill has left a loving family legacy including his wife, Mary, of Washington Terrace; children, Michael Craig (Linda) Allen, Petersen; Susan (Les) Webb, South Ogden; Nancy (Todd) Nelson, East Layton; 10 grandchildren, Elijah, Susanna, Sarah, Mary Laura, Joseph, Becky, Melissa, David, Emily, Breanna and Andrew; and five great-grandchildren, Katelyn, Madison, Autumn, Creed and Talon.
He also has step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and granddaughter, Susanna Allen.
The family expresses special thanks to Dr. Senekjian, Dr. Agarwal and the personnel at Bonneville Dialysis Center.
Funeral services will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at Lindquist''s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd.
Family and friends may call at the mortuary on Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Friday 9:45 to 10:45 a.m.
Interment, Lindquist''s Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd., where Military Honors will be accorded.
