Marion Elizabeth (Rode) Nelson, age 91, of Latham, New York passed away peacefully on September 24, 2024 at Monument Health – Bountiful, UT where she resided since August 2023.

 Marion was born in Roscoe, New York on April 10, 1933. She graduated from Syracuse Central High School, attended the University of Syracuse, where she was a cheerleader sorority member, and continued on to ultimately receive her Masters in Social Work (MSW) at the University at Albany – State University of New York.

 Marion raised a family of five children and worked as a social worker for facilities and programs of the New York State Office of Mental Health throughout her lengthy professional career.

 She enjoyed working in her yard caring for her roses, magnolia tree, raspberry bushes, geraniums, African violets. Marion especially enjoyed following the men’s and women’s professional tennis tournaments.

 Marion is the only child of her deceased parents Alvin and Rhoda May (Wood) Rode, and is survived by her children; Kim Mitchell (Robert) of Swanzey, NH, Elizabeth McKay (Joseph) of Bountiful, UT, Matthew Nelson (Kim) of Rancho Pales Verdes, CA, the Doctors David (Jill) Nelson, MD of Gainesville, FL and Eric Nelson (Michelle) of Balston Spa, NY, her 15 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great- grandchildren, family and friends.
