Marjorie Jeanne Meadows Leonard
Marjorie Jeanne Meadows Leonard, 69, passed away at home surrounded by her family following her courageous hard-fought struggle with pancreatic cancer on Tuesday, January 1, 2013. She was born on July 17, 1943 in Salt Lake City to Frederick Lohman and Jeanne Alice Smith Meadows.
She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and loved her family.
She married Ronald Jon Leonard on July 22, 1967 in Salt Lake City, Utah. They were able to spend 45 wonderful years together.
Marjorie graduated from East High School, Class of 1961, in Salt Lake City, then in 1965 from Utah State University with a Bachelors of Science and later with a Masters from the University of Utah in 1985. She taught school in the Ogden area for 12 years before working for the USDA-Forest Service, first in Jackson, Wyoming for 5 years and then at the Regional Office in Ogden where she retired after more than 28 years of service
She was a member of the Alpha Chi Omega Sorority. She loved to play golf and travel. Her greatest joy was her children and grandchildren.
Marjorie is survived by her loving husband, R. Jon Leonard, North Ogden; daughter, Lesli J. (Bill) Delis, Ogden; son, Matthew J. (Becky) Leonard, Clearfield; 4 grandchildren, Mackenzie and Sophia Delis and Harrison and Mason Leonard; and sister, Leslie M. (Glen) Davis, Holladay.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 5, 2013 at 11 a.m. at the North Ogden 24th Ward, 1150 East 2600 North. Friends may visit with family on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist''s North Ogden Mortuary, 2140 N. Washington Blvd., and Saturday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the church.
Interment, Brigham City Cemetery.
The family would like to thank Vista Care Hospice, Dr. Justin Mansfield, her Cancer Care Team at McKay-Dee Hospital and Comfort Keepers In-home Care for their loving care of Marjorie.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are suggested to the Huntsman Cancer Institute, 1950 Circle of Hope, Salt Lake City, Utah 84112.
