OGDEN a€" Maxine Robb Mayes, 89, died Sunday, December 5, 2010 at her home.

She was born December 28, 1920 in Primgah, Iowa, a daughter of Floyd and Eva Brown Miller Robb.

Maxine was born and raised on a farm in Iowa. She completed two years of county school before her family moved to LeMars, Iowa to do in-town jobs. While in high school, Maxine trained to teach county school.

In January of 1939, she quit school and married Leonard Mayes. They had two daughters. In 1944, the family moved to Ogden because Leonard was a civil servant with the U.S. Navy and was transferred to Hill Air Force Base where he retired in 1979. Maxine worked at Utah Tailoring Mills for 21 years where she began as a seamstress and worked her way up to Shop Supervisor and Chief Inspector.

Surviving are her husband Leonard, two daughters, Fran (Sam) Vigil, Karen (Hank) Carlson, and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Also surviving are two brothers, Don Robb and Wayne Robb.

The family expresses their thanks to everyone at Inspiration Hospice for all the loving care they provided to Maxine.

Funeral services will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at Lindquist''s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd.

Family will greet friends at the mortuary on Friday from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m.

Interment, Lindquist''s Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd.
