Marjorie W. Mecham

BOUNTIFUL a€" Marjorie White Mecham, 94, was reunited with her husband and eternal companion Milton Claudius Mecham on Tuesday, May 10, 2011.

She was born April 12, 1917 to Maude Clark and LeRoy D. White in the Perry, Utah family home built by her grandfather. The name Marjorie was decided on because of a play her mother and father attended at the old Salt Lake Theatre, starring Marjorie Rambeau. She graduated from Box Elder High School and married the star quarterback and man of her life, Milton C Mecham (in the same room where she was born), on August 16, 1935. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.

Her childhood was a happy one, enjoying her brothers, sisters and extended family. Her marriage to Milt brought her into the loving Mecham family. Marjorie, Beth and Dantzel were inseparable sisters. They spent many hours in conversation about family and children. Marjorie and her sisters had a great love for the arts and enjoyed playing the piano, singing, performing and attending the theater together.

Marjorie served as President of Weber College Faculty Women, Ogden Coronet Club, Patio Springs Country Club Ladies Association, Residential Chairman of the Cancer Crusade, and counselor to unwed mothers. She graduated from the school of Cosmetology at Weber College and served many years as an outstanding beautician.

During World War II her husband Milt served nearly three years in the Pacific with the Army 7th Division. Although she was lonely, it taught her a great lesson about never taking each other for granted in marriage. During this time, their testimonies grew through prayer and upon his return, they were sealed for time and all eternity in the Salt Lake Temple. She knew through the power of the Holy Ghost that Milt would return because he had a great work to perform and that she would always be a part of it.

Marjorie was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Her church experiences included Temple Matron of the Ogden Temple, Mission Mother Minneapolis Minnesota Mission, South Ogden Stake Relief Society Board, Counselor Stake Primary, Sunday School Teacher, Stake Board Teacher, Spiritual Living Teacher, MIA Counselor, Primary Chorister, pianist for Sunday School, Activities Chairman and Relief Society Counselor.

The family would like to express deep appreciation to the aides and staff who provided wonderful care to Marjorie at Harrison Regent, The Inn on Barton Creek and Legacy House of Bountiful.

She is survived by her children, M. LeRoy (Geri) Mecham, Steven (Donna) Mecham and Patricia (Dennis) Wood, 14 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren.

Marjorie was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, Clark, Boyd and Kenneth White, two sisters, Dantzel White Nelson and Beth White Dredge.

Funeral services will be held Friday, May 13 at 10 a.m. at the Weber Heights Stake Center, 1401 Country Hills Dr., Ogden.

Family will greet friends at Lindquist''s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd., on Thursday, May 12 from 6 to 8 p.m. and Friday at the Stake Center from 8:30 to 9:45 a.m.
