Marjorie Grace Rigby Sparkes
October 26, 1918 ~ July 25, 2017
Marjorie Grace Rigby Sparkes, 98, returned to her Heavenly Father and the waiting arms of her husband and daughter on July 25, 2017.
Our wise and witty mother has spent her life in the service of her Heavenly Father, her parents, her family and friends. She strived to be an obedient daughter of God and she always had great faith in God’s will.
She was born October 26, 1918 in Bancroft, Idaho to Alfred and Lillian Wright Rigby. Her family moved to Kaysville when she was nine years old and she is a graduate of Davis High School. She married William Grant Gailey in 1940 and he passed away in 1943. On December 23, 1944 she married William “Sparkey” Sparkes and they were sealed for time and all eternity on February 23, 1961, in the Salt Lake L.D.S. Temple, and together they raised four children in Kaysville. Sparkey passed away in 1992.
As an active member of the LDS church, she faithfully served in many callings throughout her life. Her favorite callings involved children and young women. She was a teacher to many in the Primary, Young Women’s and Sunday School. She served as ward MIA President, Relief Society Secretary and always was a devoted Relief Society Visiting Teacher. She taught her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren the true meaning of serving others, which she did her entire life.
Marge is survived by one son, Thomas Grant Sparkes (Joyce) of Ogden; two daughters, Janean (Roger) Muller of Levan; and Colleen (Michael) Greenwell of Uintah; nine grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandsons.
She was preceded in death by her parents, eight brothers, three sisters, a daughter, Carolyn Marie Sparkes, and one great-granddaughter, Maisy Jane Muller.
Our family would like to express sincere appreciation to all those who have loved and supported our mother throughout the years. We especially acknowledge her dear neighbors who took care of her yard, snow removal, special treats and meals and visits (puzzles and card games) to help her pass the time while she could still live in her home. We are also grateful for the aides and nurses who have enriched her life since she moved to Chancellor Gardens at Clearfield as well as Comfort Worx Hospice nurses and aides (her little girls) whom she dearly loved.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 29, 2017 at 11 a.m. at the Layton 17th Ward, 1290 North Church Street, Layton, Utah. Friends may visit family Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road and Saturday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the church. Interment, Kaysville City Cemetery.
We love you, Mom,
Until we meet again.
