Marjorie Shearing Ashton 80, passed away on Friday, June 19, 2020. She was born January 1, 1940 in Norwich, England to John and Katherine Shearing. She moved to Utah in 1986.
In 1962, she married Richard G. Ashton. He preceded her in death on March 9, 2020. She lived in Layton for 35 years.
Mickey worked at Hill Air Force Base Commissary for 20 plus years. She retired in 2010 and enjoyed the retired life by traveling to England to see family and Hawaii. He enjoyed working around her home and garden.
She enjoyed taking care of her yard and weekend trips to Wendover. Her favorite place to travel was Hawaii and staying at the Hale Koa Military Hotel.
The things she cherished most were her grandsons’, her brother and sisters in England, and her close friends.
Our mother and Nana was one of a kind, she loved us unconditionally, was always there for her family, and the strongest human we have ever known.
She made the best ham fried rice, macaroni salad and the best desserts. She took great pride in caring for her home. Mickey trimmed trees and bushes and took care of her flower garden regularly.
Her most special times were lunch dates with her girlfriends, Christmas mornings and Mother’s Day breakfasts at Village Inn.
Marjorie is survived by her son Chris Ashton (Evette) and grandchildren Dawson and Brooks, Richard Ashton Jr.(Holly) grandchildren Kade, Jaycee, and Sierra, her brother Cyril and Peter. Preceded in death by her husband Richard Gary Ashton, sisters Ruth, Pauline and brothers Brian, Donny, and Billy.
