Dr. Mark P. Eggert, DDS
February 23, 1950, ~ January 6, 2023
Mark Paul Eggert, 72, passed away on Friday, January 6, 2023. He was born in Oconto, Wisconsin, on February 23, 1950, the son of Paul Herman and Elva Elaine Behling Eggert. He graduated from Sturgeon Bay High School in 1968 and the University of Wisconsin at Oshkosh in 1972. On November 10, 1973, he married the love of his life, Christine Lynn Stipe, at Christ Memorial Lutheran Church in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
In 1975, he began his life’s calling in dentistry with his recruitment by the United States Air Force. In 1976, he graduated from Marquette Dental School in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Upon his graduation, the Air Force sent him to Hill Air Force Base in Ogden, Utah, in May 1976. He continued to serve in the Air Force as a Lieutenant Colonel for the next 27 years in active and reserve duty until his retirement in 2003. In 1979, he opened a private dentistry practice in Clearfield, Utah, and lovingly cared for his many patients in the community until he retired from dentistry in 2016. He dedicated his life to his profession and loved every day caring for his patients. His dedication to the field inspired him to teach in the Dental Hygiene program at Weber State University. In addition, he took leadership roles for the Weber District Dental Society and was a proud member of the American Dental Association.
Mark enjoyed many activities in the beautiful outdoors of Utah in his spare time. In the summer, he spent his time camping, biking, gardening, and attending classic car shows. He spent many years skiing or watching youth ski races in the winter. Most importantly, he lovingly shared all of these activities with his family and friends. He always enjoyed the challenge of a construction or repair project at home, in his office, or helping out a friend. These projects allowed him to find creative solutions and engage in conversation with friends and family. Often, these conversations were about the Green Bay Packers (Go Pack Go!) or Utah Jazz, his favorite sports teams. He was the best grandpa. He loved his wife, children and grandchildren more than words can express and treasured every moment with them.
Mark is survived by his wife, Christine; son, Jeffrey Paul (Sophie) Eggert, Denver, CO; daughter, Carie Lynn (Jeffrey) Valentin, Farmington, UT; three grandchildren, Caissa, Asher and Ethan; and brothers, Dr. Joel (Paula) Eggert and Rodd (Kari) Eggert, and sisters-in-law, Cynthia (Michael) Martin, Clarice Raabe, and Charlene (Steve) Schildwachter, nieces and nephews, and many patients, staff and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Elva Eggert, and brother-in-law, George Raabe.
The family wants to share our deepest gratitude to Mark’s dear friend, Dr. James Wellman, for his constant care and guidance regarding Mark’s health.
