Mark Lowry Livingston, 67, of Clearfield, Utah, left us November 17, 2018 surrounded by the love of his family and friends. Mark was born November 9, 1951, in Salt Lake City, Utah, the second of George Lowry and Maretta Livingston’s four children.
Mark was a family man, a community man, a businessman, a first responder, and a friend to many. He was a pillar of the Clearfield and Davis County business communities, having owned Country Garden Restaurant, The Old Post Office Club, and, for a time, Bogey’s. Mark was deeply rooted in many organizations, and served the community while working for the Clearfield Fire Department and the Davis County Sheriff’s Department. He also served on the boards of the Clearfield and Davis County Chambers of Commerce, and the Davis Area Convention and Visitors Bureau. In his retirement, Mark was passionate about taking care of school kids as a dedicated school bus driver for Davis County School District.
In his leisure time, a younger Mark would plan the ultimate bow hunting trips, super bowl parties and golfing retreats. Later in life he enjoyed his social routines: breakfast with friends, “man-canning,” “church,” riding his ATV, and lottery runs. He lived for spending as much time as possible with family and friends, and for improving his own slice of heaven on “the mountain” at his Sunridge property.
Mark’s door was always open to anyone. No matter where he was, he welcomed everyone with a smile, a listening ear, and a warm heart. He was the consummate host, a great storyteller, and a loyal protector. He valued all of his relationships and kept his connections strong through the end.
Mark is survived by his children, Angela Livingston of Salt Lake City, Kristofer (Amber) Livingston of West Point, Melissa (Jennifer Florin) Livingston of Berlin, Germany, and Bryan (Katrina) Livingston of Clearfield; grandchildren, Kayden (Mason), Ava, Kaitlyn, Bradley, Tyler, Ethan (Regan), and Marissa; great-grandchild, Sawyer; sister, Janet (Lee) Feeney of West Haven; brother, Brad (Charla Haney) Livingston of Kuna, Idaho; sister, Marcia Lunneberg of Clearfield; sweetheart, Kathi Dysert of North Ogden; and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and an extended family of close friends that he loved so dearly. Mark is preceded in death by his parents, George Lowry and Maretta Livingston.
A special thank you to the nursing and aide staff at the Huntsman Cancer Institute and University of Utah who made Mark feel like a human rather than a patient.
Family and friends are invited to a celebration of Mark’s life held at Union Grill in Ogden, Utah on Saturday, December 8, 2018 from noon until 3 pm.
In lieu of flowers, the family has set up the Mark Livingston Memorial Fund through America First Credit Union to offset funeral expenses and the remainder will be given to the Mark Livingston Education Fund through the Davis County School District a cause close to his heart. Mark is now free to enjoy his next adventure.
