Mark Ronald Monson, 55, was called home on April 7, 2017. Mark was born on March 16, 1962 in Ogden, Utah, to James Ronald Monson and Sandy Stark.
His father passed away tragically when he was four years old. Mark took on the role of a lifetime being big brother and amazing care taker to three younger siblings.
Mark had a keen eye for the Arts. He started his career in Visual Merchandising at Z.C.M.I. He moved to Nordstrom where he received many awards in Interior Promotions and Windows Display. Mark was quickly recognized for his talent, leadership skills, and his amazing gifts.
Mark was recognized as top trainer and motivator by corporate management. Mark was promoted often taking the leading manager positions in Northern and Southern California and on to Portland OR and Washington State. Mark formulated Event Planning for Charity Fund Raising events that include opening of Toombs of China for the Museum in Portland and opening of Museum of Modern Art in San Francisco as well as many other successful national fashion shows and events.
Mark had the respect of many of which he had honestly earned. Mark loved to “Give Back” and donate time and talent where needed. Mark was known for his generosity and the ability to bring the best out in people, to draw their hidden talents, and guide them toward success. He had a love for change and challenge and thrived in it, raising the bar for others.
He had a willingness and devotion to share his talent and energy with all of us.
Mark had a passion for cooking and loved to garden.
Mark was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints
Mark is survived by his mother, Sandy; sisters, Lynda Monson and Tracy Gill; and Brother Ron Monson; as well as numerous nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly.
He was preceded in death by his father, grandparents, and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
An Urnside service will be held on Saturday, May 6, 2017 at 11 a.m. at Lindquist’s Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd.
Mark will be buried alongside his father after a 51 year absence. We know he has a great reunion with him and all that went before him.
