- Mark D Perkins, 57, of South Weber passed away December 11, 2013 after a hard-fought battle with cancer. He was born to Doyle and Elaine Perkins on January 11, 1956 in Ogden, Utah. Mark graduated from Weber High School in 1974, and served an honorable LDS mission in the Louisiana Baton Rouge Mission from 1975-1977. He graduated with a Bachelor''s degree from Utah State University in 1980, and received an MBA from Arizona State University in 1983.
Mark''s passion was his family. He married Merri Ann Cox in the Salt Lake Temple on January 27, 1984. Together they had three children; Taylor, Kara, and Allison, and he cherished the time spent with his wife and children above all else. Some of his fondest family memories were created on trips to Lake Powell, where he loved exploring narrow red rock canyons and gazing at the nighttime sky.
Mark had a deep appreciation and respect for the outdoors. He loved to ride horses with his wife and daughters in the mountains of Utah on his horse Aunt Emma, a red roan Quarter Horse. Mark also loved to fly fish and hunt with his friends and son, always yearning for the next rise of a trout or ridge to cross in search of game. He was as at home in a cold mountain tent as he was in his own house. Mark shared this passion of the outdoors with dozens of young men, where he spent over 20 years serving in the scouting program. He enjoyed many grand adventures with these young men and fellow leaders. Mark was also an active member of the LDS Church, and cherished his membership and friendships made through a lifetime of service.
Mark is survived by his three children: Taylor Perkins, Kara Hurst (Brandon), and Allison Hanover (Daniel); his wife Merri Ann, his parents Doyle and Elaine Perkins, his three siblings: Jeff Perkins (Leslie), Ronda Jones (Dave), and Kelley Saunders (Vic); and his lazy, snoring dog Molly. Mark was a loving husband, father, son, brother, friend, and wannabe cowboy. His infectious wit, generous spirit, and unwavering love will leave a void in all of our lives. We love you Mark! And we cannot wait to be with you again.
