Mark T. Porter
SOUTH OGDEN – Mark Thayne Porter, 74, died Sunday, December 30, 2007 at his home following an eight year battle with cancer.
He was born November 1, 1933 in Mapleton, Idaho, a son of George Riley and Laverna Wanner Porter.
On September 28, 1961, Mark married Barbara Jean Stimpson in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.
He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where he served in various quorum presidencies and coached church teams. He also served as an Ogden Temple worker and was a faithful Home Teacher.
Mark worked for the City of Ogden for 30 years.
He was a member of the Idaho and Utah National Guards.
Mark enjoyed playing ball with his sons, gardening, hunting, fishing, watching his sons and grandchildren’s ball games, and temple work.
Surviving are his wife, Barbara, of South Ogden; four sons, Thayne (Allison), Glade (JoAnn), Glen (Kim), Russell (Sherri), and 14 grandchildren.
Also surviving are three brothers and five sisters.
Mark was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers and one sister.
The family expresses special thanks to Dr. Vincent Hansen and staff, and Alpine Hospice for their loving care of Mark.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at the South Ogden 4th Ward Chapel, 4075 Orchard Avenue, with Bishop Glade Porter officiating.
Friends may call at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd., on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Saturday at the Ward Chapel 9:45 to 10:45 a.m.
Interment, Lindquist’s Memorial Gardens of the Wasatch, 1718 Combe Road.
