Marlene S. Mezenen
MORGAN a" Marlene Mae Sorensen Mezenen, 76, of Morgan, Utah and Indio, California, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Saturday, December 6, 2008 following a long battle with cancer.
She was born May 4, 1932 in Ogden, to Roy Mitchell and Ethel Giles Sorensen.
Marlene married her eternal partner, Bert F. Mezenen, on April 20, 1957. Their marriage was solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on January 25, 1980.
She had a 20 year career as an Air Force Civilian which she began in the early 50''s painting aircraft at Hill AFB. After a short break to raise her family, she finished out her career in accounting and finance retiring in 1988.
Marlene was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and took pride in serving others.
She enjoyed a full retirement traveling from Alaska to Florida and spending the winter months in Indio, California. She enjoyed traveling, meeting new friends and taking in all the beautiful scenery God provided us throughout the states. She was an avid volunteer, providing hours of devotion to those in need, such as Meals on Wheels, John F. Kennedy Hospital where she worked in the gift shop, RCB Shuffle Board Chairperson, and last but not least, the Indio CHIP''s (Citizens Helping Indio Police) program where she just received her 5 Year Service Pin two days prior to her passing.
Surviving are her loving and devoted husband, Bert Mezenen, Morgan, UT and Indio, CA; children: Sheri Mezenen, Salt Lake City, UT; Julie and Roland Haslam, Morgan, UT; Roger Mezenen, Clinton, UT; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; sister, Donna and Hod Mercer, Michigan; and brothers, Darrell (deceased) and Ladean Sorensen, Layton, UT; Merrill and Leah Sorensen, Ogden, UT.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother.

Graveside services in her honor will be held Monday at 11 a.m. at Lindquist''s Memorial Gardens of the Wasatch, 1718 Combe Road, with Bishop Elmont Bingham of the Milton Ward officiating. Compassionate service rendered by the Milton Ward Relief Society.
Friends may call at Lindquist''s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd., on Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Monday 9:45 to 10:45 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the American Cancer Society in Marlene''s name.
