Marlin Robison Furse

Marlin Robison Furse passed away on June 19th, 2024, at the IHC Hospital, in Layton Utah. He was born to Glen Saunders Furse and Lenna June Robison Furse on May 23rd, 1950. Marlin was Glen and June’s first child and was the oldest brother to 5 siblings. 

In 1968, Marlin graduated from Davis High School in his hometown of Kaysville Utah, and also briefly attended Weber State University in Ogden Utah. 

Marlin served a mission in the Chicago Illinois area for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, and maintained the friendships he had built with his companions and converts throughout his life. He always took pride in his active involvement in the church, and faithfully served in numerous callings over the years. 

Marlin’s first job was working as a Bellhop at The Hotel Utah, where he once met the legendary Elvis Presley. He later worked at Clover Club in Kaysville Utah and finished his career with Farr Better Ice Cream in Ogden, Utah, where he retired early due to medical issues. He formed lifelong friendships with many of his coworkers along the way. 

Marlin married his sweetheart, Robyn Hannah Wright on July 27th, 1973, in the Ogden Utah Temple. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with a large gathering of friends and family at a surprise party on July 27th, 2023. 

Among Marlin's fondest memories were the weekly dates he shared with his sweetheart at their favorite spots. He especially treasured celebrating their wedding anniversaries at Maddox near Brigham City Utah and indulging in their favorite entrees. Marlin’s love for people shone through in his friendly and outgoing personality, he was known as an extrovert who cherished making friends with others. 

Later in life as Marlin’s health declined, social media became his gateway to staying connected with the world. He was very active online and thoroughly enjoyed making connections virtually. Marlin was an amazing grandpa, above all else, he loved spending time with his grandchildren, whom he treasured. 

Marlin will be remembered for his warm spirit, dedication to faith, and unwavering desire to foster relationships with those around him. His legacy of kindness and connection will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. 

Marlin is survived by his beloved wife Robyn Furse, children: Dan Furse, David (Alicia) Furse, Steven Furse, and Jenny (Richard) Black, grandchildren: Haden and Gage Furse, Kincaid Savoie, Jack Furse and Olivia Black, and great-granddaughters Rubee Lemmons and Valley Rae Furse. Also survived by his siblings Denise (Tracy) King, Calvin (Gay) Furse, Todd (MaryAnn) Furse and Robyn Furse. 

Preceded in death by his parents and his brother Ronald Robison Furse. 

Funeral service will be held on Monday June 24, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. at the Lindquist Layton Mortuary, 1867 N. Fairfield Rd, Layton, Utah. 

There will be 2 viewings. The first will be held on Sunday evening, June 23rd, 2024 from 6pm - 8pm. The second viewing is from 12:30pm – 1:30pm on Monday June 24th, which is just prior to the funeral. Both viewings are at the Lindquist Layton Mortuary, 1867 N. Fairfield Rd, Layton, Utah. 

Interment will be in the Lindquist Layton Cemetery.
