Marlow Harry Hilton

1932 ~ 2018

Our loving husband, father, and grandfather, Marlow Harry Hilton, 86, returned to his heavenly home on September 13, 2018 after a valiant battle with a long illness. His devotion to his family and his firm belief in God supported him in his struggle and ultimately gave him peace.

Marlow was born to the late Arthur and Elanor Hilton in1932 in Evanston Wyoming. He was the youngest of seven children and last to leave us. Marlow was blessed with a large and loving family. He married his eternal companion Sharon Decker on February 26, 1955 in Evanston WY. They were sealed in the Logan temple April 29, 1960. Marlow helped raise his five children with patience, discipline and humility.

He was immersed in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served his Lord with love as he served in many callings with his favorite being with the scouts and home teacher. He proudly served two missions with his eternal companion to Jacksonville Florida and in Ogden UT.

He joined the Navy in 1952 serving full time for four years in the Korean War, being discharged in 1956. He then found his true joy with the United States Coast Guard reserve, SKC after 26 years. He was thrilled to be part of the Utah Honor Flight in 2017. He retired from Hill Air Force Base where he was an F-16 supervisor.

He shared his love of the Coast Guard with his family and there was never a ship not toured as a family on our adventures. His annual two weeks was a family vacation of excitement. Memories made especially of the Redwood Forest. There was never a father who was more supportive with his kids. From coaching little league football, chauffeuring to dance and encouragement in everything each of his children did.

He was kind and soft-spoken, and always approached a friend, stranger with a cheerful greeting of “Hi there young man” this made a new friend immediately; he is dearly missed by his loved ones, who celebrate the fact that he is at peace with his creator.

Marlow is survived by his wife, Sharon; his daughter Sherry (Hugh) Dorathy, son Eddy (Sharon) Hilton, son Brad (JoAnn) Hilton, daughter Annette (Shane) Cave, and daughter Patricia (Aaron) Goldman, seventeen grandchildren and thirty great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Walt, Hoot, Tom, George, and sisters DeEtte Horne and Marie Osborne.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, September 18, 2018 at the West Point 7th Ward, 550 North 2300 West. The family will met with friends Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist’s Roy Mortuary, 3333 West 5600 South and Tuesday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the church.
